Db2 LUW DBA Basics Workshop

In 6 afternoon sessions, every student will learn the basic DBA skills. From creating tablespaces and tables to doing backups/restores and database reorgs and much more. This course has a practical approach and teaches what is needed (no marketing hype). Each afternoon (approx. 3+ hours) we will discuss DBA topics in a live session on Microsoft Teams. Your trainer is Klaas Brant and the language is English.

With each session, each student gets several assignments that they must complete in their own time. Each assignment will take approx. 2-3 hours to complete. A DB2 on Linux environment is provided during, and four weeks after the training. You can also use your own in-house test environment (files and setup instructions are provided, on request). No special Linux knowledge is needed, and all exercises apply to any platform db2 runs on. You will need an SSH client on your PC (more details in the confirmation). This course is up to date with the latest DB2 releases.

This is the perfect course for anybody who needs Db2 DBA skills in their day-to-day job like junior DBAs, Developers responsible for a Db2 environment, DevOps team members, and System Administrators.

Online class using Microsoft Teams Q&A

Microsoft Teams has proven itself to be very flexible and has good video and audio quality. But maybe you or your company don’t use MS Teams. No problem! You will get an invite from us. If you already use MS Teams then the invite will add another Team (the class) to your existing Teams. If you don’t have Teams you have two options: 1. use online MS Teams in the browser or 2. download MS Team and use the MS Teams App on your PC (in general better quality). In both of these cases you don’t need a MS Teams License. You don’t have to register your email with Microsoft.

Questions we often get:

Q: Do I need a webcam?
A: No, in fact, we advise you to turn off the camera on a laptop to save bandwidth.

Q: Do I need a microphone?
A: That is handy but not a must, you can also ask question in the chat.

Q: What do I do if I have a question during the exercises or after viewing the recording?
A: Send us a message in MS Teams or attend one of the Q&A sessions.

Q: What if I miss a live session or cannot attend (e.g. different time zone)?
A: You get access to a recording of the live session. All students receive after the live session a url to the recording in the email. Please don’t share recordings!
